 Tips for a great massage session:

For you:

  1. Find a space in your home that will be able to hold space for my massage table, preferably away from loud noises and heavy foot traffic.
  2. Take a shower/bath at least 30 minutes prior to the session to help warm up your muscles/soft tissue and make your skin more recepetive to the massaging oils.
  3. Reschedule if you are sick with a virus (cold, flu, etc.) and/or have a fever as massage will only make you feel more ill.  Also if you have a contagious illness, please reschedule as I have contact with many people and "sharing is caring" does not apply!  Thanks!
  4. Relax and welcome the therapy!

For your horse(s):

  1. Make time to hold your horse during the intitial evalutaion and treatment.
  2. Groom your horse before the massage so that it is clean and dry
  3. Warm them up on the ground or under-saddle to help warm up their muscles/soft tissue (but not to the point of sweating).  This also helps to alleviate any nervous energy.
  4. Make sure the session can take place where the horse feels comfortable and not distracted (in its stall, paddock, or cross ties).  Please avoid high-stress times such as feeding or initial turnout.
  5. Do not be afraid to ask questions or take notes as some techniques can be applied by yourself.
